The site of “Beijing Ape Men” of Zhoukoudian, a world famous site of ancient human beings, is located at Fangshan District.
    Around 250,000 ~ 600,000 years ago, the “Beijing Ape Men” resided in the limestone caves at Zhoukoudian where they have left behind a large numberof vestiges, relics and fossils. Especially, many traces of fire use provide not only fulland accurate evidence of the Beijing Ape Men's ability to make use of fire to keep warm, cook food and protect themselves at that time, but also convincing illustrations for the studies of anthropology and biological evolution.
